In December 2012, Sphere Development Co. based in Cazenovia, NY donated 12.3 acres of land at the intersection of Airport Road and Johnnycake Hill Road in the town of Madison, NY.  The property is crossed diagonally from SE to NW by the Madison Feeder of the Chenango Canal.  There is a footpath alongside the feeder.

The Madison Feeder begins at its junction with Payne Creek, the outflow from Lake Moraine.  The lake was created as part of the water system to feed the summit of the Chenango Canal.  Working flow control weirs are still present and maintained by the NYS Canal Authority.  Water in the feeder flows west, more or less, into the Chenango Canal just south of Woodman Pond.  The junction of the feeder and the Chenango Canal is accessible from the Towpath trail.

In April 2013, we decided to plant some trees at the edge of wetland.  Thanks go to Den Kelley who donated seedlings from his land in Pine Woods.  Charlie Page, John Thorna and Harvey L. Kliman planted 13 trees.
